The movie is about a young kid
Berto, a rugby-sniffing street
child that has fallen prey to human traffickers. When the street urchin meets
Somascan Bro. Jerry, he finds refuge in the Casa Miani orphanage. But the brotherhood
of the streets compels him to follow their code. The conflict starts when
the leader of the human traffickers still follows Berto on the orphanage and
blackmails the kid. The movie also shows the story of the St. Jerome
At first I thought that this film is parang tulad ng mga reenactment
sa 700 Club or drama anthology for holy week special ng GMA pero infairness mas
higit pa doon yung quality ng movie. Though the story content of the film is
halos katuad doon pero mas ok yung treatment ditto at pampelikula naman yung
approach. Ang kinaganda talaga ng pelikulang ito ay yung istorya na lahat ay
mag pagkakataon na makapagbago lalo na para sa mga nalilihis na landas. Very
inspiring yung story ng pelikula and this film is something to that we need to
watch if we would like to reflects on our spiritual life. Napapanahon ang
pelikulang ito lalo na ngayung kapaskuhan for us to realize what Jesus Christ
sacrifice for all of us. Acting wise Mateo Guidicelli delivers well in the
film, eto na ang pinaka magaling na acting niya sa lahat ng projects na nagawa
niya. Good thing that he accepts the role for this indie film. Ofcourse
papahuli bas a galling umarte ang mga bata na sina Micko Laurente ( Berto) and
the fat kid from the orphanage, those 2 kids are really scene stealers,
napakahusay at napakacute. The rest of the casts deliver well. The treatment of
the film is also good na hindi naman siya nagmukhang made for religious
purposes at pumasa naman for a feature film.
The DOP is good as well at na utilize din nila yung dolley because of various
movement of camera in the film. So this is an alternative film to watch for in
MMFF New Wave, if you would want to have a breather and just a light movie to
watch to that you can reflect , watch this film.
