Robin Padilla along with the makers and the cast of Metro Manila Film Festival 2014 entry Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo led the grand celebration and commemoration of revolutionary hero Andres Bonifacio last November 30 at the Bonifacio Monument Circle in the historic city of Caloocan.

The whole-day event kicked off with a flag raising and commemoration program, where ‘Bonifacio’ star Robin Padilla were joined by officials from the local government of Caloocan and representatives from the National Historic Commission of the Philippines (NHCP). This was followed shortly by games and contests inspired by iconic Filipino games at the “Tatag Bonifacio, Tatag Revicon” program.

Vina Morales @ Bonifacio Day Grand Celebration. Vina is playing Gregoria De Jesus in the film and her love story with Andres Bonifacio is one of the highlight of Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo.

The crowd’s spirit was further ignited by the rousing “HIMIG-sikan: A Concert for Bonifacio” headlined by the country’s best selling rap artist Gloc-9. Gloc-9, known for his socially relevant songs, sang his latest hits and debuted “Hindi Pa Tapos”, the official song of the movie Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo. This song was co-written by the film’s director Enzo Williams.

Padilla and the rest of the cast, which includes Vina Morales, Jasmine Curtis Smith, RJ Padilla, and Rommel Padilla, joined Gloc-9 on stage to entertain and thank the crowd.

Padilla, whose remembrance of Andres Bonifacio started on the eve of Bonifacio Day with a vigil held in Maragondon, Cavite, where the Katipunan’s leader was executed in 1897. He, thus, passionately implored to the public to always keep in mind the sacrifices Bonifacio made for his country.

“Mahalaga na kilalanin at gunitain natin ang kabayanihan ni Bonifacio,” he said. “Utang natin sa kanya ang kalayaan na tinatamasa ng ating bansa.”
