Upcoming film “Patintero:
Ang Alamat Ni Meng Patalo” is one of the featured presenters and exhibitors in
this year’s AsiaPOP Comicon, happening on Friday, August 26 – Sunday, August 28
at the SMX Convention Center. The lead cast, which includes Nafa Hilario Cruz (Meng), Isabel ‘Lenlen’ Frial (Nicay), William Buenavente
(Shifty), and Claude Adrales (Z-Boy) and the film’s director Mihk Vergara will
be present during the event’s grand stage presentation on Saturday, August 27.
"Patintero", a
fun and heartwarming coming-of-age film about a young girl and her ragtag group
of neighborhood ‘losers’, will be transformed to mini-graphic novel with the
launch of the "Patintero,
Mga Alamat ng Patalo" comic book. This cool companion piece to the film features an
expanded story that gives more depth and details on each of the lead
character’s life. Vergara, a huge comic book fan, wrote the story while the
comics’ artwork were created by the some of the biggest names in the local
comic book industry Arnold Arre, Rob Cham, Mich Cervantes, John Carlo Clemente
and with cover art from Dave Alegre.
As a treat to comic book
fans, the “Patintero” comic book will be launched and sold at a special introductory
price during the AsiaPOP Comicon. On Sunday, August 28, fans can meet-and-greet
the “Patintero” illustrators during
the exclusive comic book-signing event to be held at the TBA-Patintero booth.
TBA (Tuko Film Productions,
Buchi Boy Entertainment, and Artikulo Uno Productions) is also one of the
presenters and exhibitors at the first ever History Con. Learn more about patintero and
other Filipino games through the interactive activities found at the
“Patintero” booth. History Con will run from Thursday, August 25 to Sunday,
August 28 at the World Trade Center.
“Patintero: Ang Alamat Ni
Meng Patalo” will be released in theaters nationwide on October 5.
